With her roots in social justice activism, Aimee Suzara co-founded the environmental justice organization Filipino/American Coalition for Environmental Solidarity (FACES) in 1999, and has worked with San Francisco Women Against Rape (SFWAR) and the Youth Media Council. An advocate for the intersection of arts and literacy, she has taught with Youth Speaks, Art in Action, Camp Noodle and colleges and high schools throughout the Bay Area. Currently, she is a lecturer at Cal State University Monterey Bay in Creative Writing and Social Action and she continues to lead workshops in poetry and performance for youth and adults.
