A Big Week For Bayou Corne Residents Harmed by Texas Brine's Sinkhole
It's a big week this week for those concerned about the Bayou Corne community, located near the site of Texas Brine's sinkhole. Here's what's happening:
- Tuesday morning, January 27th (today) at 10 AM, Texas Brine will be petitioning the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources (LDNR) to lift requirements for payments for folks who are still evacuated - Randy Rousseau to name one - as well as those still here but affected by the sinkhole and who have not yet settled.
- Wednesday, January 28th will be PBS's presentation of NOVA which will feature, among other things, the Bayou Corne disaster. Check your local listings here or here.
- Then on Thursday evening (January 29th) there will be a gala event in New Orleans for Ms.Victoria Greene's epic documentary on our Forgotten Bayou (trailer above). This will be held at The French Quarter Film House, 807 Esplanade Avenue. For ticket information, please contact Victoria Greene at 504.265.0082.
- Next week Al Jazeera will broadcast our plight on national TV on an episode of America Tonight. Check your local listings for details, or check out Al Jazeera's previous coverage here.
We wish these stories could have a happier and more blessed ending, but the sad truth will be a lasting monument to man's greed and our state regulators incompetence. God Bless all of you, and if you are able to participate in any of these events, on behalf of those who have lost their places here in paradise, we encourage you to do so.
