Deep Scattering Layer

I was listening to kpft in Houston and heard this great talk on TUC Radio with Julia Whitty.  I've been particularly concerned with the discussion on what the short and long term environmental impacts of the bp drilling disaster are going to look like.  Much of the media has been reporting that most of the oil is gone.

"At least 50 percent of the oil that was released is now completely gone from the system, and most of the remainder is degrading rapidly or is being removed from the beaches," Jane Lubchenco, administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, told a White House briefing. (CNNmoney.com)

In this segment, Julia explains the importance of the Deep Scattering Layer and how it has been affected by the bp oil drilling disaster.
