Summer of Tears (pt 2)
The night after he first saw oil from the BP disaster pour into Barataria Bay, commercial fisherman Mike Roberts couldn't sleep. Instead, for the first time in his life, he sat down and started to write. He called the piece "Summer of Tears."
This weekend, Mike read "Summer of Tears" aloud for the first time, to a group of rural community leaders who visited Barataria to learn about the impacts of the oil disaster.
The event, at captain Mike Hymel's home in Barataria, was put on by Louisiana Bayoukeeper and the Rural Development Leadership Network.
