Last week at Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall, just hours before the Red Sox won the World Series, three courageous individuals, Shea Reister, Sophie Robinson and Naveh Halperin, interrupted President Obama’s health care speech to show their opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline and to tar sands oil, shouting, “Stop the Pipeline...Stop Climate Change!"  

Some people might stand in the shadow of Mobile, Alabama's Cochran-Africatown Bridge and see nothing but the sprawling tank farms, barges and coal terminals that clutter the Mobile River's banks, stretching northward from south of downtown to historic Africatown and beyond.   

“Hey, boss…I don’t know if they’re here.  It don’t look real promising.”  Bob called out to David Arnesen with a heavy sigh.

They were a couple of miles outside of South Pass, off the coast of Louisiana, chasing kingfish on the first day of August, a picture-perfect day.  But after nearly two hours on the water, there was only one fish to show for their effort.

Last week, three delegates from the Gulf Coast attended BP’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in London and spoke about ongoing impacts of company's 2010 Oil Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The BP board responded by painting a rosy picture of the Gulf Coast ("It's an ecosystem that's used to oil," said BP chief Bob Dudley) and defending the company's use of toxic dispersant (Dudley again: "...Corexit is about the same as dish soap").
